Eligibility Criteria for Admission

(a) Educational Qualification

Candidate must have passed:

  • 10+2 examination (Intermediate or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and either:
    • Biology
    • or Mathematics
  • From a recognized board (e.g., WBCHSE, CBSE, ISC, or equivalent).
Note: Students with PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) are both eligible.

(b) Minimum Marks (as per institution/state norms)

Usually, a minimum of 45% marks (General) and 40% marks (SC/ST/OBC) in the required subjects is preferred.

However, PCI does not prescribe a fixed minimum percentage; final criteria depend on the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education (WBSCTE) or the affiliated university.

3. Age Limit

  • Candidate should be at least 17 years old on or before 31st December of the admission year.
  • No upper age limit prescribed by PCI.

4. Admission Process in West Bengal

Admissions are generally conducted through centralized counselling by WBSCTE (West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development).

Some private institutions may also take direct admission based on 10+2 merit, as per WBSCTE/PCI guidelines.
